sofitel – the good and the bad

lui and i had room and dinner reservations at sofitel last sat which was still part of our anniversary celebration. πŸ™‚

the whole experience was good, could have been better if the pool was open and for some other minor things. but all in all it was good and we loved spending time together,Β  just the two of us πŸ™‚

so here’s a breakdown of the good and the bad:

the good:

  • because of our membership with Accor Advantage, we didn’t have to pay for our room reservation. we also got 50% discount (P1,888)Β  for our dinner buffet. this was huge savings!
  • the room was spacious

  • the room came with a balcony which was great! it has a good view of the whole manila bay

  • the bed was soft – i slept like a baby!
  • the shower had hot and cold water – i love taking hot baths πŸ™‚
  • as usual, SPIRAL was superb. truly one of the best buffet i’ve ever tried.

(i have sooo many food pics – these are just SOME of the food served at spiral. i’ll post the other pics at my FB account.)

the bad:

  • they charge parking (!) even for checked-in customers. it’s a whopping P150 per night. grrr
  • the place is sooooo isolated. by mid-noon saturday, i was bored out of my wits!
  • the pillows were too soft – it basically disappears when you lie on it.
  • the pool was closed, which our agent failed to tell us 😦
  • the hotel is OLD. period. the fixtures / furniture in the room were old. even the tv was outdated. the bathroom was slightly dirty as well. the room came with basic stuff. (aside from the bathroom, the rest of the room was clean. thank God)

all in all, i’ll rate our stay at sofitel a 3 /5. the only GREAT thing about sofitel, truly, is the buffet (which i’ll give a 4.5 /5). room-wise, i’d still choose makati shang (or even pan pacific suite) anytime of the day. πŸ™‚ the location is really bad. not very accessible.

  1. Hala, natawa ako sa tv. Mukhang mautak ang Sofitel, nagtira ng mga old rooms pang Accor members hehe (ganda na ng mga rooms nila since they renovated eh). Pero I agree, winner nga ang Spiral buffet, I like it better than Circles

  2. Kendz nakakatawa yung TV!!! gusto ko rin talaga try tong Sofitel for an overnight stay too with Dan. Di pa rin kasi kami makabyahe talaga at maiwan si David πŸ˜›

Pwede bang tumira sa ilalim na lang ng isang table sa Spiral? Ang saya lang talaga ng buffet na yun!

  3. Hey Kendz, how did you get your free night? Who is your agent? Ayaw kse ko tulungan ng mga agent ko. Magaling lng sila pag renewal na….sobrang dami ng pangako….Also, i dicovered something about the membership of my husband….hindi sya un….same name…but when we checked on the advantage-plus website “zero” na ang free nights nya at di tugma ung membership date….

But i think this will be my last year na lng….ang hirap kse nila kausap…..

(we have the same experience like them….)

  4. hi chelly,

apologies for the late response… i had to check for my agent’s name kasi. i totally forgot na… her name is pia limbo.

we booked our room thru her. she made all the arrangements. my cousin naman, he booked through the website stated in the accor advantage card.

thanks for sharing your experience. actually i only applied for membership kasi anniversary namin ni hubby and since we cant go out of the country, i arranged for overnight stay na lang. and good deal kasi tlaga cya… free night plus 50% off spiral πŸ™‚

hope it works out for you. update mo ko kapag naayos mo na ha.
